Kill Him!

Why, if this asshole - one of the world's top spammers - is convicted, should he lie in prison??? Let me at him! Cruel and inhumane punishment is DEFINITELY in order... He should be pummeled to death by angry crowds of legitimate computer users!!!!!!

I would pay a small fee to get "stamped" e-mails from people with legitimate e-mail addresses. Or, whatever way will make this stuff legitimate. Spam is clogging the Internet and must be eradicated...

Bush sees South Korea model for Iraq...

Oh God! Let me tell you why this is NOT an alternative. First, South Korea is part of a Peninsula. The South Koreans have only one border. That is the one guarded by all those South Korean and U.S. troops. Generally, many South Koreans want the presence of U.S. troops - if they don't really like us, they are pragmatic enough to know that this keeps the border calm. It was a negotiated peace, uneasy at times, but made possible by a heavily guarded border between North and South.

Iraq has borders with Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, Syria, Turkey and Iran. Did I leave anyone out? Iraqi's of various sects and groups have been polled. They all want the foreign occupiers out! All of those other countries want us to leave as well. We're trying
desperately to stabilize the situation before we do, but the U.S. has overstayed it's welcome.

I realize the goal was to set up a series of
permanent American bases throughout the Mid East, but my vision was to see the countries of the Arab lands and greater Middle East come together and help Iraq stay peaceful.

The United States can NOT be the world's sole police force.

The real news...

Now I'm a "weather junkie" and bumping the other news for the latest radar picture. Things sure excitin' this time of year, however having property in "Tornadoland", there is also a bit of Nervousness.

Yes, an attention whore like Ann Coulter...

As followup to the previous post, I list Ann Coulter as premiere attention whore for the right wingers. This proves my point exactly!

Goodbye Cindy Sheehan...

Wow, talk about nasty abuse that this woman has gotten! While some would say her leaving statement (sorry, it was supposedly on "The Daily Cos", but I can't find it) was sour grapes, I certainly understand her frustration. Many of the right-wingers are stuck in this mindset of "us against them" and flame anyone that does not agree. I am not really on either side, just want us to find a responsible way out. But with all the mistakes which have been made, I can sympathize with Cindy. To promote a cause in this country, you need to get media attention, so that term "attention whore" could be applied to many right wing people as well. What is one supposed to do? If you believe in a cause, promoting it often means public visibility.

It's a start!

I wouldn't make too much out of the face to face meeting between Iranian and American diplomats except to say that it could lead to more meetings. I think it worked pretty well leaving them alone up until we became involved in Iraq. Iraq can not become stable without the cooperation of the Iranians.

For me, personally, it means that sometime in the future we could actually have some kind of relations with them. Perhaps my friend could come to the United States to study??? Don't laugh at me! Remember it took some time for us to reestablish relations with Vietnam. Now, I believe there are direct flights to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).

For the region, it would be much better if the United States lowered it's profile in the Middle East and other countries were able to make a positive contribution to keeping it peaceful. Despite our diminished popularity in the region, there are still people who look to us as a beacon of freedom!

A somewhat grim Memorial Day...

As U.S. casualties pile up in Iraq, the rest of us should pause and reflect upon the difficult job the troops are doing. This is being made more difficult by the "Vietnamization" of the Iraq war: in other words America's patience has run low and the U.S. politicians are arguing over it. Let us only hope that Iraqinization (my new terminology) goes better than the other...

I believe what is needed is a comprehensive political settlement in order to attain cease fire. (this includes some neighboring countries and militias) This war can NOT be won by military means alone. I hope by this time next year we are either in the process of withdrawing or have withdrawn most of our troops from there.

If there was only a way to demonstrate to the various waring factions that they are killing more of the local (Muslim) population than Westerners and that we will be very glad to leave the country as soon as possible. But then again some seem rather thick-headed.

That damned place!

Moscow and the Russian Orthodox Church are showing just how repressive they are. Gay rights supporters were trying to organize a march and get bloodied in the process.

It is a long battle, fighting for equality and civil treatment in all countries. I'm just glad nobody got killed... I'm sure that city has a fair sized gay community, being so large and all.

It's a long hard fought battle and folks just need to hang in there. We should support our brothers and sisters wherever they are.

A cat fight - no thanks!

Yeah, this fight between Rosie and that other gal on the View got a lot of press. Big deal! It is fine for women to have a show to argue on, but why would I watch it???? I'm around too many women at work and have to listen to their little quarrels there.

I used to like Rosie, but she's becoming more and more of a big loud-mouthed dyke. Women quarreling gives me a headache and I don't enjoy it. I do like it when a good female journalist or blogger writes an interesting article. But listen to women argue? Yes, they accomplish things despite their little spats, but in the mean time my head hurts. Discuss things calmly and I will listen!

Since I listened to excerpts on Larry King, I can honestly say nobody won. It was just a bunch of hot air!

It's SHIT!

As one Senator said about the new Immigration compromise: "It's Shit" Yes, it is indeed SHIT and Congress is SHIT and the idiot in the White House is really smelly shit!

Can I go now? I want to go to a smaller, progressive, friendly country like New Zealand. America is dead! It got too big, too money hungry, too corrupt.... just like the Roman Empire! Wonder who will be the next empire??? It will probably be a while before there is one again...

Carter Irrelevant?

The White House responds to Jimmy Carter's criticism of the Bush Administration by calling him "increasingly irrelevant". Granted, it was in poor taste to pile on the growing heap of Bush bashers for an ex-President. And yes, Carter is rather irrelevant. Many people percieved his own administration as ineffective. Bill Clinton occasionaly takes a swipe at Bush, but is also doing some important work with aids charaties.

This is not to say there is not quite a bit of truth in what Carter said. Exactly where the Bush Administration ends up in history will depend upon the final year, 2008. It is pretty much my conclusion that history will NOT be kind to this President. I'd root for the S.O.B. to go down in flames, but I'm afraid he'll bring the whole world with him!

Not that I'm all that crazy about anyone currently running for the job, but IS IT 2008 YET????

Television Evangelist Falwell Dies at 73...

Gosh, things just won't seem the same without the guy... I'm glad I was fair to him and had words of praise when he said something I agreed with. Admittedly, I did not agree with Falwell very much, but I've decided not to become obsessed with hate for the religious right, either.

Perhaps, now, Jerry knows the way things really are. I don't believe any mortal human can know the full picture in this life. Regardless, I don't believe that he was a bad person - he was simply trying to make the world a better place from his perspective. I choose to believe heaven has room for people of all persuasions.

RMNP on road to become wilderness area...

Senators Allard and Salazar teamed up as well as Reps Udall and Tancredo to craft this bill halting further development of Rocky Mountain National Park. That's good. Now why can't Congress perform in this manner when it comes to major legislation for Iraq and Immigration??? Of course they probably will craft some kind of bill for Immigration as the President and Democrats are in agreement on that. Unfortunately, the Immigration bill should be two bills: border security first and dealing with the people already here second.

Getting back to RMNP, I'll have to visit sometime. It's not a bad drive up there and the National Parks are a bargain. I just hope that with all the countries' obligations that they can find ways to protect the national treasures. Estes Park is a nice town for a tourist town, but is a bit too crowded in summer.

I could care less what his faith is!

Aside from his views on gay marriage, I have little knowledge of where Mitt Romney stands on the issues of our day. It's a shame - as long as he is a decent person (which I believe he is), who cares about his religion!!??? Yes, I'd probably take McCain over him, despite the fact that I'm not all that wild over him anymore. But I honestly believe Romney gets a bum rap over his religion. If I could agree with his policies and issues, I wouldn't even give his being Mormon a second thought.

I believe Romney will remain a formidable candidate for some time. I'm a little curious of one thing, though: Why did Massachusetts elect a Democrat after Romney finished his term of office??? Well, perhaps there were not any good Republicans running to replace him...

In Memory of Dr. Steven Haataja

He was an assistant professor of mathematics at Chadron (Nebraska) State College. They found his bound body among the burned hills outside of town on March 9th. He died of soot and smoke inhalation.

This murder has all the earmarks of a hate crime. I'm glad it made the Denver and National press. The professor lived alone and had recently moved to Chadron Nebraska after graduate work at UNL. One report said he had "effeminate" mannerisms. I really don't want "it" to be about that, so we will wait and see. Anyway, new groceries in his fridge indicated he wanted to return.

Regardless of the motivation, it was an awful way to die and I hope they catch the person(s) who did it. I really enjoy most people in Nebraska, but am mindful that a few of them are not all that tolerant of people who are "different". From his picture, I can see that the Professor was a gentle soul who probably would not harm anyone. It is a shame!

New President of France.

Nicolas Sarkozy is the new Conservative Party President of France. I understand he is from the same party as Jacques Chirac, but hopefully he won't be as obstinate in dealing with the U.S. . I'm probably getting to be more and more of a leftist, but Chirac was not my favorite person.

Chirac had a Beau Coup - a Big Head!!!! I always wanted to smack the guy upside his head with a cast iron skillet. Admittly, that would not be a very nice thing to do, but he is such a bloc head, he might not even feel it!

Immigrants and supporters to rally in Denver

I have to admit that sometimes I have a bit of sympathy for them. Most immigrants are VERY hard working. What has prompted this demonstration is the recent string of raids on places such as Swift. I'll say it again: the people who should be punished first are those managers and executives who willingly exploit the undocumented workers. If there was no intent that can be shown and the workers simply provided false documentation, then it's different. Buy you can't convince me that all of the employers know nothing about the status of their workers, however.

A first line of priority is coming up with a more fool-proof system of protecting Social Security numbers and cards. They spend all this time and effort making biometric Green Cards and Passports, so why not a better system for Social Security Identification??? I don't just mean cards, but doing a check to make sure the person matches their Social Security Number. Then there is the other documentation required. I would be happy to have a designation on my driver's license that I am a U.S. citizen.

Finally, let me unequivocally state that there is a BIG difference between the millions of people who immigrated here legally and those who slipped in. I'm sure Toan would agree. I'm all for treating the people here "illegally" with compassion, but I don't see how the system can sustain this flood of economic refugees for too much longer. Which brings me to another topic - what could be done, if anything, to help our neighboring countries from which these people come?
