Iran's leader calls for TV debate with Bush

OOOh boy! That one ought to be good. The two idiots... Yes, I agree with the White House that this is a diversionary tactic to get away from the nuclear issue. But it would be better if we had some kind of diplomatic dialogue with them. Ever since the famed hostage crisis in '79, we have not had anything to do with them. In a way, that was good. But now, it is a new millenium and hey, we had diplomatic relations with the Soviets, so what the heck!

Diplomacy doesn't solve everything, but neither does threats and sanctions.

A day of remembrance...

One year after Katrina. A tropical storm is strafing Florida. They can cope with the mistakes made and the slow recovery efforts, but I don't believe they could cope with another hurricane. I do not believe they should rebuild the 9th Ward or any other really low area until vast improvements are made in the levy system.

We'll need a little bit of luck with this one! Not only for NOLA, but Florida and the rest of the Gulf Coast as well.

Karr's DNA not a match

OOps! Gee whiz, all that money spent to get him here. Why couldn't they have gotten the DNA in Thailand and shipped it here? Still, he's a strange guy and should be checked out for other crimes he was suspected of. Then, at least in this author's mind, he should be prosecuted for mis-leading authorities.

I kind of thought it sounded too good to be true that they had caught Jon Benet's killer!

Rep. Harris: Church-state separation 'a lie'

Oh, there she goes again! That bitch, Kathryn Harris, and her stupid eyebrows! Thanks to her, W. won in 2000 and we're in this mess. Sensible Florida republicans are refusing to back her. It's good to have prominent idiots like this spewing their garbage to aid the opposition.

I believe that we do have a seperation of church and state in America and that we should keep it. Freedom of religion is stated in the Constitution and no religion is specified as the state religion. Further, congress is forbidden from meddeling in religion. Equality is implied in the Constitution. Since the various religions often disagree on many issues, the only way to keep them equal is to keep them OUT of the government!

We don't want to become a Christian Theocracy!

Vatican official pans new way of making stem cells...

I guess it's still not good enough for them. This is so silly! They are so wrapped up in procreation that they could care less about anything else! I still think they have something against mastrubation, so I'm going home to murder some sperm cells!

Conversion at gunpoint?

Fox reporter Steve Centanni and photographer Olaf Wiig were recently released by their Palestinian captors. Under captivity, Steve read a statement that said: "Islam is not just meant for some people -- it is the true religion for all people at all times"

How would I have reacted? You know of my issues with religion! I'd feel pretty low if I felt compelled to read such a ridiculous statement... I wish I could find the courage to stand up to them and say; "fuck you, I won't!" and "fuck all religions!!!" This way, I could die true to my beliefs. Personally, I don't believe ANY religion is the true religion. They are all just bits and pieces of a bigger picture. They are somebody's perspective on the almighty and nothing more!

Being the coward that I am, I'd probably cooperate with them. Then, I'd have to spend a lot of time explaining and apologizing for what I said!

The fat child left behind???

I'm not sure what this is about. It probably involves politics! Supposedly Bush's No Child Left Behind program is somehow responsible. Maybe they are trying too hard to meet the academic standards for kids that they forget P.E.. On the other hand, maybe it is the same problem I have; fast food!

I watch all these obese parents drag their kids in to Wal Mart and buy all those quick, prepared entrees and snacks. Convieniently, there is a McDonald's located right at the entrance. And, unlike the seperate franchise McD's, they don't offer Asian salads. Just the standard burgers, fries and ice creams.

I was fortunate NOT to be obese until I became an adult. In fact, I started gaining weight during basic training in the Army. Sure, I gained some muscles, but also a bit of fat. From then on out, even with Army P.T., I gained weight. It took some years after leaving the service for me to get into the obese catagory. There were up's and downs, but gradually over time I got to my current weight (that will be my secret). Well, let me just say I could loose 20 to 30 pounds!

“I go to bed worried. I wake up worried. ”

These are the words of some lady (forgot her name) in charge of Homeland Security. The expression on her face says it all! I don't care how much money she makes, I wouldn't want her job!

Profiling?

A popular internet circulation gives numerous examples of acts committed by Muslem extremists between the ages of 17 and 40. The point is well made. One thing they forgot to mention are the acts of Timothy McVeigh and the Unibomber - which were homegrown acts of terror.

Regardless, I don't mind if they do a bit of profiling IF they treat the people with respect AND apologize for any inconvienience. Also, in profiling, they should do as the Brits do and look for nervous people. Rather than digging through every bottle of shampoo, it makes good sense to watch the facial expressions and behavior of the passengers. Most often those are more reliable clues.

Children and Old People...

Very similar! The only difference is a child can figure out how to operate a computer, while it intimidates an old person. Also, the old person would have more interesting stories to tell.

The respite...

This gives us time to get caught up on other news. Let see; they arrested that guy who confessed to killing Jon Benet. Hmmm??? do you think he did it? I still had a hard time believing Patsy was innocent. Then again, rich people act strangely!

Who won the war?

How rediculous is that statement? Nobody won... The region is still unstable. Israel still has a powerful army and Hezbollah has even more popular support. Many deaths and much destruction. There are NO winners!

The tenuous cease fire...

Acutually, I was kind of pleasantly surprized that it hadn't disintigrated in it's first hours! They show photos of cars returning home. I really hope there will be some restraint in light of the fact that civillians are occupying their homes again.

Hez fires 250 rockets into Israel...

Gosh, I wonder what Israel is doing in retaliation! It sure doesn't look like they are heading towards a cease-fire!

Even Churchill couldn't figure out Iraq!

This is the title of an article by Joe Klein in Time. So is the current idiot and his administration supposed to do so? Yikes!

Hydrogen Peroxide?

I knew it has a lot of energy. Energy to blow things up, yes. But also energy to heal. I ordered it to heal. Gotta dilute it. I hope they don't ban it because Jihad idiot wants to blow up plane with a sports drink.

The face of the enemy!

NOT!

This is my new friend Ariyan from Tehran! I hope we can continue our tenuous connection through the internet. He spoke of the Iranian Pop Diva Googooosh, who had to leave during the 79 Revolution. She now lives in Los Angeles.

I can just imagine what some of those bimbos I work with in the hospital would say! I won't tell them. They are such ignorant and self-absorbed "ugly" Americans! We're not all like that Ariyan!

They'll just have to make do with one less Democrat!

I'll even chip in for Joe's campain as an independent. Ken Salazar supports him as well! I think Joe can win considering the number of independent and moderate republican voters to be had in Connecticut.

Look, I may not be quite as supportive of Bush "War on Terrorism" policies as Joe, but Joe is a true statesman and definitely if (you look at his record) not a republican. I'm a pragmatist; I didn't want the invasion of Iraq, but once done, we have an obligation to try and stabilize it. We are reminded today about the terrorism threat which remains.

Does this mean we should forge ahead with business as usual? I think anyone who reads this blog will know I don't support that. That's why I often talk about getting more democrats to rebalance the congress. But putting in some guy who has very little experience against a seasoned and gracious senator was a grave mistake.

I often talk about my favorite senators. McCain, Hagle, Lieberman and our own, Salazar! I like the way Biden speaks, but I'm unsure of his views on a lot of things. Lieberman's problem as a presidential candidate is that he is too dull. Kind of like Ken Salazar. But I'd rather have dull than flashy and phony. Maybe I ought to include a woman; Olympia Snow of Maine. I admire Bill Frist for his experience, but am far apart from him on many things.

I am confident that Joe, as an independent senator, will vote on the social issues as he has before. He is a Jew, but I believe he is far apart from the religious conservatives. He just happens to believe we need to stick together prosecuting the "war". I hate the damned thing, but believe we are stuck in it. Giving up now sends the wrong message. We just need to look at how we are doing things and make corrections ASAP.

I'm sure Harry Reid and Hillary Clinton are doing what they feel they need to do as democrats: supporting the democratic candidate from Connecticut. A lot of times I do sound like a Democrat, but I'm not. I'm an independent voter. I will continue to vote for a number of democrats locally, such as Bill Ritter for Colorado Governor. I think he can win and this state has been too red for too long. (Bill Owens had a large stake in helping Bush get re-elected!) As I said earlier, however, when moderate republicans arise who are not religious conservatives or neo-cons, I will support them if the democratic opponet is not a good one.

The Bush News Channel?

What other names are appropriate?

Let me see how they editorialize:

1. The liberal news media is showing only casualties in Lebanon. (Not true, even CNN shows casualties in Israel, it's just that ten times more people have died in Lebanon).

2. The radical left has taken over the Democratic Party by ousting Joe Lieberman, but the American Public won't go along with them.

3. We don't really want a cease-fire till Israel kills all of Hezbollah. (I agree with this in concept, except they're killing too many civillians).

4. Israeli news stations just reported finding Iranian fighters in Lebanon; we don't need to confirm those reports, they must be true. Iran has now joined the war. Welcome to WWIII! I'm sure Syrian troops to be found soon! (FOX News was certain about that chemical plant south of Baghdad being WMD plant; which it was not!)

5. The Democratic Party is anti-semetic, anti war and anti American: Ann Coulter... (she's home here on FOX News) Editor's Note: My neighbor is Jewish and voted for Kerry

6. All of the Bush cabinet members get treated quite well when interviewed... They are home on Fox News!

7. Alan Colmes is SO pathetic. They deliberately chose a whimpy, geeky, babbly figure to represent the left. I know that news channels don't disclose the political affiliation of their workers, but I'll bet he is the ONLY one who is a Democrat on the Left. (he can't hide, he's been outed).

8. Tony Snow is White house Press Secretary. (I actually kind of like him; he's beter than the previous guy!) He cements the link between the White House and Fox!

Stress sent soldiers to drink and drugs, colleague testifies

Shhees, those poor guys. It's happening AGAIN! These are the same conditions they had that caused the My Lai massacre. Now they have that horrible rape and murder scandal... That girl was only 14!!!

I don't blame those guys. I might not go out and rape somebody, but in that awful heat, I'd definately snap. Screw it! They should send fucking Bush (who flew jets over Houston) to Iraq!

U r sckd: worker fired by text message...

Lucky them! Not depending on this job, I'd be thrilled to hear that. I'd be just about as casual and unconcerned as the management would probably be.

That being said, do you know all the legal steps they must go through here before terminating someone? It's easier to lay someone off. I'll voulenteer!

Gas over $3.00 a gallon!

I paid $1.84 at Wal-Mart just last February in Raymondville, Tx. While it does encourage you to drive more when it is cheap, I keep hoping this will cause folks to conserve at the current prices. I think I DO see less of those monster trucks and huge S.U.V.'s on the road. My pet peeve is people driving around in those vehicles, with flapping American flags prominently displayed. It is NOT patriotic to waste fuel!

It does seem as if it were just yesterday when we finally overtook the $2/gallon mark. From my point of view, it would be best if prices would just stabilize and stay put for a while. We are probably due a modest price decrease in conjunction to the end of summer driving season.
