The key out of there...

I must go on record here as NOT supporting a precipitous withdrawal from Iraq. Yes, it's a huge strain on our military, the service members and their families. But what are the options? Does one really feel that leaving suddenly would not create a power vacuum waiting to be filled? Would this not produce a truly failed state, civil war and haven for terrorists?

The key to peace, in my humble opinion, lies next door. No, I do not believe a lot can be negotiated with the Islamic Regime. But that regime has pissed off a many of it's citizens - particularly the younger generation of Iranians. The Regime is just looking for outside causes to distract it's people from a failing economy and oppression. I'm here to tell ya, it ain't working!

But I'm glad Don Rumsfeld is gone as it is that Neo-Con thinking got us into this mess. I don't believe an invasion of Iran would have even the remotest chance of success. An areal attack on nuke sites??? Even if that could be successful, now that we've declared they are not building a weapon, an attack would be used by the Mullahs to whip up support against us.

I don't really like the words "stay the course", but things need a bit of time to work in Iraq and next door. Just be firm and resolute with Iran. Given time, things will come to a head there. Given time. Show those standing up for human rights our utmost support. I can't predict the future, but I can dream the future! If the Islamic Regime fails - hopefully in a soft revolution like Eastern Europe - many of the Middle East's problems will be solved.

Following installation of the new democratic government in Tehran, I will pack my bags and get my tourist visa!

More killings...

It's so bad when stuff like these church shootings happen near the holidays. Look, I'll be the first to admit that I'm not overly fond of New Life Church. But they don't deserve anything like this. And that Arvada killing is equally as sensless.

My concern is mental illness that torments people to do things like this. It is an ongoing cycle in modern day society and getting worse, I'm afraid. They just had the Omaha shooting and now this.

I'm sure they'll peice together the details, but for now one can only wonder.

U.S. wants more pressure on Iran???

Puhleeeze! Robert Gates, Dick Cheney or George Bush do NOT speak for me. Nor do they have the credibility to make such statements after the current NIE report. Yes, I want a firm stance with regards to Iran. Particularly with their meddling in Iraq and Israel/Palestine. What I don't want is more sabre rattling and threats. Enough already!

I also want dialogue with Iran.
