La "Star Spangled Banner" en EspaƱol

The Star Spangled Banner in Spanish? Why not? It would make little difference to me as I'd know what they are saying... I'll stick with the English version, but y'all can listen to it anyway you wish!

Now they are going to have a day of protest on Monday, May 1st, where Mexicans (or those who are Mexican American) will take the day off work. Wish I could take the day off work! It should be interesting, but except for housekeeping, most of the hospital employees aren't Mexican. One daytime guy who empties the trash is Arab, another African. The evening guy is possibly of Latino/Mexican descent, but apparently born in U.S.A... He just got over a long medical leave, so I don't think he'll be calling in.

I won't say there will be no problems here, but all I can say to those taking the day off: DON'T CALL THE HOSPITAL!

Experts: Global warming behind 2005 hurricanes

Duh! This is gonna piss Repent America off!

Bush Proposals Aim to Ease Gas Prices

This really should read: Bush Proposals on Gas Prices to Aid Republicans up for re-election! Well, at least he isn't emptying the reserve... If I sound rather unsympathetic on this, well that's just the way I am! I tend to have more sympathy when it comes to heating oil and natural gas used for heating. Whenever you have gas prices going up like you have now, more people take public transportation (I've noticed this personally) and the larger vehicles disappear from the road. If everyone cut back on driving, the consumption of gas and diesel would drop and the law of supply and demand would lower prices.

I've got some work to do, personally... Getting up at the crack-o-dawn aint my forte', but I suppose I could get up a half hour early to take the bus to work!

Iran's Nuclear Program "Irreversable"

Note: Nothing is "irreversable"! But if they are hell-bent on forging ahead, there is little the West can do. There are a lot of sites, so bombing them to destroy 'em would be difficult. Sanctions don't appear to work as was discovered during Saddam's regime. We kept him in somewhat of a box, but the Oil for Food program was a sham. Now that there is so much difficulty with Iraq, I believe Iran is emboldened - there is little patience for any kind of military action aside from those we are currently engaged among the American people.

Nagin and Landreau in runoff...

I have no preference. Had there not been Katrina, I think Nagin would have won handily as incumbants do in N.O.. Everyone has their share of blame, including him. Still, I won't be too hard on him; it was a totally overwhelming situation and still is quite serious down there. It is understandable that some people want to clean house to get some action.

What our federal government and FEMA have done, up to this point, is a disgrace!

Like Squealing Pigs!

This is how people are reacting to the news of the high gas prices. There is so much the American consumer can do to cut costs on gasoline. Drive less! Trade in that HUGE SUV or truck! Most large SUV's I see are driving around half empty of passengers. Some people are driving these around by themselves!

Tune it up and get maintenance done on schedule. Check your tire inflation!

Yes, I'm sorry that I didn't hook up the Hydro-Gen! It was procrastination, indeed! I finally found a good tap into the fuse system, so soon it will function! My goal is to get my highway average up to 30 mpg - not just going downhill to Nebraska!

Remember, if YOU and everyone else use less, then market forces will drive the price down! Also, we would be setting a good example for the Chineese and Indians if we forge ahead with alternative technology. This is technology we WANT them to borrow!

Protester Disrupts Hu Arrival Ceremony....

Good! Then I hear the gutless Bush apologized to Hu for the incident... What's to apologize??? The woman has every right to demonstrate. This is still America, after all! Their government should have embraced this religion, or at least left it alone. From what I know about Falun Gong, it will make people happier and more productive. Doesn't the Commie government over there want that??? Bush probably thinks he should kiss their ass. I wish he'd stand up to them!

And what is my religion?

Glad you did not ask! I don't have one! Now, before you get all excited, let me explain! I don't disbelieve anything, I just haven't made up my mind!!! I heard some guy giving a sermon about how Jesus really was resurected and how people were coming up with strange explanations of his disappearance to try and deny it.

Yes, I'd like to believe that he rose to be with his Father. But I see how this story has been told in so many different ways and realize that none of us may know the complete truth. Also, there are componets of other religions that make sense to me as well.

I can just see the lectures and sermons about how I must be born again and saved or perish. This appears to be genuine fear mongering.

Let me put it this way... I won't be intimidated into believing. Let me put another way: "If the spirit moves me!"

Where I get my work ethic...

My father, who else??? I heard he was a good teacher, but he couldn't handle students who were behavior problems. We certainly have some odd behavior around here, as well! He had problems with the dysfunctional and stressful atmosphere of Denver West high school. I have problems with the stressful and noisy environment of my work. Don't want to be here any longer than is necessary. Neither did dad! He liked to cut out early from class. So would I like to go home!!!

Of course, he was a professional (with a Masters degree) and I'm just a peon. So I don't think Denver Post would publish a bitter letter announcing my resignation! Actually, I thought it was kinda cool reading dad's letter in the Post. Still, there was a lot of education going down the tubes when he quit. For me, let some other monkey get the two weeks training and let 'em go. I won't be bitter about it. It's just a job!

Finally, I feel peaceful...

Resigned to my fate of being inside on such a beautiful day, I've settled down now and hopefully it won't be too bad. This is sacreligious! Nobody should have to be in a hospital either as a patient or a worker on a nice day (Easter Sunday) such as today!

Was Judas a double crosser to Jesus???

Heck if I would know???? All I know is that they discovered some ancient manuscripts that are now housed in a museum in Egypt that indicate Judas conspired WITH Jesus...

Then, of course the Pope has to get in his two cents worth. I take the attitude that I wasn't there and don't know what happened. Some people, like Pope Benedict, feel threatened when their reality is dissected.

The people I would listen to are the archaeologists, the people examining ancient texts and the people comparing the various theories for their merit. If the stuff is lying in the desert, it begs to be examined. Keep an open mind on this stuff. Of course, I'm not saying Judas didn't betray Jesus, I'm just saying that I don't know. I like to hear both sides of an argument.

George wanted me to read some version of the Bible that had been translated into modern English. Of course HE would!!! I, myself, would like to take a class on it where books of the Bible are examined by various educated men and the class discusses the merits of their interpretations. Take a unbiased, objective look at it!

Keep Rumsfeld!

Keep him to remind the voters of the Bush Administration's folly! Yes, I can see them trying to make changes to please the disatisfied voters, but I don't think getting rid of him will make that much difference for the short term. For the long term, of course, we want a whole new administration! At least we want a more balanced congress so Bush just can't have his way whenever he wants...

Editor's note; No there is not a mouse in my pocket. If you are one of the few that still support the administration, well then stop reading this!!!

Senate reaches 'breakthrough' on immigration...

Yeah right.... All they did is take the easy road for the election year! I still maintain that the correct way to handle immigration is to start with making it more efficient for the people trying to come here legally. A lot of those people here illegally are just sending money back to Mexico... They need to be screened and checked for criminal background and terrorist connections. Most of the illegals are not criminals - if they are not, then they should be able to apply for a temporary worker's visa. But you are essentially granting amnesty by letting people who slipped across illegally stay here. What needs to be done is stopping the pressure on the border. THAT needs to be the first priority. Some people want fences - I want a more efficient process for people to come here. I think most immigrants would rather not cross many miles of desert, or pay thousands to be transported in a dangerous overcrowded van. We need to stop that. Those who come need to be screened, photographed and fingerprinted! (If I were trying to work in another country, I wouldn't mind having that done...)

We also need to crack down on employers who hire illegals. Sure, you probably can't prevent every illegal gardener or dishwasher, but you can crack down on companies who have hundreds or thousands of workers and who flaunt the law. They should pay stiff penalties!!!

Some of that desert country looks like it would be kind of interesting to take a hike in during the cool months IF it were not so dangerous or littered with trash,

Chief: McKinney should have avoided confrontation...

I agree! But hey, sometimes people are in a bad mood and get carried away. Fine. Just appologize for your actions! You know damned well that after the anthrax scares and other terrorist incidents that security is tight in the Congress. Get used to it. Wear your badge, pin or whatever else is required. Heck you get that good health insurance, an office staff and a lot of ot other perks. You probably fly first class on your trips back home! Look, I just can't have sympathy for someone who won't take responsibility for their actions!!!!

The best pathological liar I can be!

This is my unstated objective at work!!! Keep my mouth shut and when I need time off - I'll have a reason... They don't give a crap about me, so why should I care about them. Stupid bimbos!

Of course I have a role model in for this. I don't expect to live up to his high level of deception, but President Bush has set a good example for me!!!

Editor's Note: Excuse the RANT, but this blog is called Zim's Rants after all!!!

HE MUST PAY TAXES!!!

I have to support the Constitution! I may not like the message of James Dobson's Focus on the Family, but he has every right to say what he says...

Apparently there are a LOT of people listening to their message. The sprawling complex In Colorado Springs is a glistening tribute to that message.

The problem is here is they are more than a religious organization. They are a political action corporation (PAC). And they have access to the highest people in government!

I have no problem letting Dobson have a voice. But if he is going to function outside the realm of tax sheltered church functions, HE MUST PAY TAXES!

Good Riddance!

He's outa there! Tom Delay is resigning and not running for re-election!

I wish I could say something positive about his departure; all I can say is he made a good decision to leave. He has not exactly engraciated himself to me after the Terry Schivo fiasco. Then, to make things worse, he speaks of God, morality and religion in his departing interview. Go home and practice your religion!!! I think I read something about him having a house in Arlington, Virginia... Maybe he is going to be a high-priced lobbyist?
