Justice Roberts checks out of Maine Hospital

Well, that's good then! He's the better one of the two Justices that Bush picked. I wouldn't want to hazzard a guess who would replace Roberts if he had to step down. It would probably involve a big battle with Congress to get another one installed. Two picks are enough for any administration!

The jury is still out on Alito and Roberts. Believe it or not, in some aspects I agree with the philosophy that justices should not legislate from the bench (either in a conservative or liberal manner). Certainly, however, laws do end up getting changed because of Supreme Court decisions. They are always going to be ruling on how this case or that case fits the Constitution. All I ask is they proceed with caution and ponder both sides of the cases thouroghly.

The Constitution is the most sacred thing about America. However, the Founding Fathers could NEVER have envisioned such a complex society as we are today. They did a pretty darned good job, though!

Forgive them, for they know not what they say...

Dear Lord, thank you for helping me keep my mouth shut today. Yeah, I know life ain't fair and sometimes I have to suffer through listening to ignorant people and their comments. Thank you for opening my mind and allowing me to know people all over the world. Also, I'm working on not disliking white (or more particularly W.A.S.P.) people. It makes no sense to hate myself, I just hate it when people of my race or country are so wrapped up in their own small existance that they can not understand other cultures. I am so fortunate to know people in far corners of the world.

I can only pray that Americans will open their minds and become less self-absorbed. We all share this planet you have provided us with and wil lall either have to get along or perish. I have to stop and think sometimes how fortunate I've been and give thanks for that!

YouTube Rocks!

O.k., I won't get into the debate details. They never are true debates - more like soundbite performances. But the questions were great!

I didn't catch all of them, but my favorite was when that guy pulls out what looks like an assault rifle and asks "What are you Democrats going to do to protect my baby?"... and then he holds the weapon to his chest and pats it like a baby.

Joe Biden responded sarcasticly: "If that's his baby, the man needs serious help!"

I'd have more sympathy for that YouTube'r if he had held up a regular hunting rifle. They don't let just anybody have a driver's license or drive any type of vehicle on the roads, so obviously there has to be some regulation of weapons. This does not imply that the fella ever did anything wrong with it, but I can't see what the purpose of such a weapon is. Steve's gun was interesting to me. The only purpose I could see was to blow my head off with it, but the barrel was a bit too long.

Blair on first trip as Mideast envoy...

I like Tony Blair... I feel bad that he was tainted with the failures of Bush and Iraq. Now he goes to try and get the Mideast peace process going. Unfortunately, his powers to negotiate are limited.

He sure is an eloquent speaker! Love listening to him. He really makes our President look dumb (not that he needs any help).

I wish Tony had more powers. Being such a likable fellow, perhaps he could get something done.

So - So reviews? What????

I went to watch "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry" yesterday. Couldn't stop laughing! O.k., I admit I'm a simpleton and some people are probably more sophisticated... But why all the mediocre reviews??? Adam worked well with Kevin James to portray two N.Y.C. Firefighters who pretend to be gay to get benefits

I think Adam Sandler is a comedy genius. Yes, the film was full of corney scenes, but that was exactly what I was in the mood for. The only drawback about this cleverly written film was that it is non-stop laughs and at the end you need a breather.

I wonder how many people do enter into fake marriages to attain benefits. I'd like to marry a Canadian to attain Citizenship! Probably wouldn't happen.

Bush to have Colonoscopy at Camp David...

Oh goodnes, I hope he doesn't gag on it!!!!! LOL... O.k., I'll be honest: I heard that crack from a co-worker.

Jay Steele is excellent!

I just read his recent Blog entry, Goodbye, America... The author is Jay Steele, who writes for YourHub.com. You can read this yourself, but it makes comparisons to other great empires and their demise. I believe I've touched on this, but there is nothing I can really do about it.

Yup, I'd like to leave! But where would I go? Perhaps groups of us will survive in the heartland after the great DEMISE... No use sittin' around worrying about it - just live each day and keep in mind that tomorrow as we know it may not be here.

See what happens when I leave?

I heard about that kid that tried to shoot Guv Ritter... Glad he didn't, however it is sad he had to die. Especially since he was delusional and talking about "God" and all that. Looks like "God" didn't want Ritter to die... Anyhow, it doesn't seem to be playing on in the news, so I hope there is no huge controversy in the kid's death.

I was kind of wondering if the State Capitol was secured, as the last time I visited was before 9/11. I can tell you that the City and County building across the Mall sure is secured!!! That's because of the courtrooms and all the criminals going through there. It's no big deal going through security.

I have occasionally fantasized about lighting myself afire on the front steps of the State Capitol like Thich Quang Duc did on a Saigon street in 1963. That would be after the Capitolist Pig Healthcare System robbed me of my money. It would be a real attention-grabber and I could put out web messages about the plight of healthcare. I'm sure my charred remains would be easy to scrape off of the granite steps.

The drawback with this plan is that I lack the spiritual discipline (a meditative trance) that the venerable Thich Quang Duc had to sit motionless as he burned up. And I don't think any amount of whiskey or painkillers would stop me from reacting. I'd probably run around screaming like the Iranians who did it in Paris and someone would put me out! Damned!

The Bill and Hillary show hits Iowa...

She's ridin' high in the polls. I have nothing against her, except she sure has a lot of enemies and I believe the next President needs to bring people together! Of course Mr. Bush was touted as the great "Uniter" because he was able to work with Democrats in the Texas Legislature. Then he gets in to the White House and gets all kinds of people mad at him! So, perhaps Hillary will turn out to be the opposite of her reputation, if she got elected. I hope so, but have my doubts!

I can honestly say I don't have a horse in this race. ALL these candidates have problems!!! I sure look forward to seeing if there are any serious third party contenders...
