Rain clouds on the horizon!
You NEVER know! We need the rain, but not tornados or hail... I hope it's a nice gentle soaking shower. Then again, it may just fizzle out...
Zim's rants and raves. Z's musings.
You NEVER know! We need the rain, but not tornados or hail... I hope it's a nice gentle soaking shower. Then again, it may just fizzle out...
Those who live in glass houses... I guess McCain paid for his tickets! Anyone with any sense will know that there are ethics problems with BOTH parties! I'm not too fond of Reid, anyway. Maybe he'll step aside.
It's Memorial Day again and we often forget the meaning of this holiday. If I were in Hawaii, I'd head out to the Arizona Memorial. I don't really know what to do here. It's definately worthy of mention in this BLOG. I'm glad I never went to war when I was in the Army! It is a piece of cake in peacetime, yet a tough way to make a living during a conflict.
Shoved inside Ken Lay and Jeff Skilling's ____HOLES!!!!!!!!! This is what these scumbags deserve, however I suspect they are going to country club prison. Oh well, at least they are going! I'm glad they showed a guy that had lost all of his retirement due to their deception. Helps to put it in perspective!!!
Hey, Al Gore is not the most exciting person! But on global warming, I believe he is dead right. Now, even if the president had tried to follow the Kyoto Accords and take action, I believe the planet would still be suffering the effects of warming.
I'm not sure whether this is good or not, except I was kind of rooting for the guy. I felt that this tragedy was overwhelming and the mayor struggled, but did his best, post Katrina!!! I kind of liked that one time he went off and said: "They're NOT here, god dammit!" These were appropriate words for a frustrating situation! It's too bad the election was along racial lines, but as noted, the crossover vote was sufficient for Ray's election.
Iraq finally got the government formed. There is still a lot of work to be done, yet we are getting to the point where we can say their government is independent. This is good news indeed! There are still numerous pitfalls to be avoided, but hey.... don't ignore good news when it happens.
One gets the feeling that it was more political than substantive. There was a little something for everybody in there. Still the speech was lacking in a couple key areas... One, as touched on in the previous post, action needs to be taken with those employers who exploit the situation. Two, we must realize that the majority of these people are economic refugees. Why are we not helping our neighbor(s) become more prosperous so that people could stay there??? We definately need to look at the failure of NAFTA to bring prosperity to Mexico. All that has occured is corporate exploitation of poor people. Thus this modern-day exodus.
They are going to try a LOT of things. I'm not saying this could not be part of a soution, but not the primary part. Dry up the demand and there is less pressure on the border. Work with employers to help them verify legal residency!!!! Dry up the demand and people will stop coming over so much. Make it easier, albeit with background and fingerprint checks, to come here legally.
Now there's a woman with some sense! She's obviously the brains of the family. A very nice person... See, I really am fair in this BLOG!
CNN polls overwhelmingly lean to the left. No doubt! But it is interesting that Bill Clinton gets higher marks on virtually every poll question, including national defense and protecting us from terrorism as compared to W. Bush. What???
I wish he hadn't, but he did. This does NOT engraciate the Senator to me. Period!!! Pictures of John next to Jerry Fallwell does not make me want to vote for him; sorry, Senator! Well, it's a while till 2008, anyway.... We'll see what happens.
There is the notion out there that the religious voters are more dedicated.... Not, at least in this voter's eye!!!! I am dedicated against the Religio-Con's... It is high time we let individuals decide their own morality and focus on the common needs of the public!
I hear that Republicans in Congress are getting ready to throw some red meat out to their "conservative" base. I hope that this time it backfires! Immigration issues, healthcare and the war in Iraq are the three most pressing issues. Also, the budget! The states have proven to be capable of tackling issues such as same-sex marriage, yet there are those out there who want to bring up the red herring constitutinal amendment once again... Will McCain vote for it this time??? Will this issue fire up the base as it did in 2004??? My gut feeling is NO! Frankly, the thousands pouring across our border, daily, are more of a concern to this author!!!
Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, SHAME ON ME!!!!
O.k., it's just a few cents, but it proves my point! Supply and demand...
"Now it's My Turn" is the title of her new book. I enjoyed her interview with Diane Sawyer. What a genuinely nice person! I admire her loyalty to her dad. I also admire the longevity of her relationship with her partner, Heather Poe! It proves, number one, that love and commitment make a relationship! As she said; "we're just waiting for the State and Federal laws to catch up to us..."
Bush's poll numbers keep dropping. Yet is it enough for the inept democrats to capitalize on this???? As I have indicated previously, I want Bush to complete his term. But I would not mind if the Congress became a bit more balanced in 2006!
Not here! I'll have to check the news to see if there were any problems, but once again NOT HERE! The trash is empty and I believe the Bosnian ladies are all present in the hospital cafeteria! Toan normally has the day off anyway, except he may go in to the other nail salon to play cards with the owner and maybe take a customer if one comes in...
That's a good question. I do NOT want the U.S. military to go in there alone. There are Arabs involved and they generally want us out of their lands. Not that it is all their land, but they are involved.
