Sarkozy cuts off 'stupid' CBS interview

I like this guy! I'm soooo tired of all this muckraking in the Western press, anyway... Just like I don't want to hear about a politicians religious beliefs, I most certainly don't want to hear about marital problems, either!

Keep up the good work!

No evidence Iran is making nuclear weapons: ElBaradei

I would hope this would slow down the sabre rattling for now! This doesn't mean someone there hasn't done a little tinkering... But to put this in perspective, nearby Pakistan and India already have nuclear weapons. And let us not forget little Israel. Ahemm....... They still talk of Iran being several years out from developing an actual weapon. And delivery systems take work, too!

Gawd I hope the neocons don't do something rash... Give it time and have patience. Just like with North Korea.

No Excuses!

Look folks, I'm sorry the Rockies have done so poorly in the World Series. But there's no use in whining about it! Plain and simple they got outplayed. And these people who bring up excuses like the difficulties of playing at Fenway or the larger Boston payroll make us look bad. Any championship team will rise to adversity!

They've got a game left to turn it around. As per my tradition, I will not watch the game. It will be nice if they can keep things going, but I won't be overly disappointed if this does not happen. One thing I am happy for is that I don't live in Red Sox territory anymore... Those fans can be merciless! As for the payrolls of the team, well I think ALL pro sports players are over-paid!

CO2 emissions dwarf worst-case forecasts....

Well, if man made emissions were not a factor in the current warming cycle in the past, they are now!!!

Why now?

The Congress is pushing this resolution condemning the Turkish genocide of Armenians. While this should not be ignored by history, my question is: why now???? This is not exactly recent history as it happened from 1915 to 1918. Turkey has it's problems, but is an ally and friend. Why does Congress want to poke her with a stick? Closing down the airbases in Turkey will definitely hinder operations in Iraq. If we are to withdraw from Iraq, let us do it on our terms and not be forced to by an uncooperative neighbor.

Dalai Lama brushes off Chinese criticism...

Meeting with him is one of the few things I can praise Bush for... It is one thing to invade countries, but quite frankly China needs a good poke with a stick every once in a while. Why the hell do we have to kiss their butt? The Dalai Lama is a great man and deservs to be recognized!

English 'pull own teeth' as dental service decays...

Well, this isn't exactly a stunning endorsement for socialized medicine, is it..... But then again, they do have private dentists in England. Sure, here we have a couple of "free" or low cost clinics for the poor - but if you are middle class, you have to pay a great deal if you have aged teeth or problems. This is even IF you have insurance. I can attest to that personally!

With something like dentistry, it would always be good to have choices. Perhaps it is good to have some dentists over there taking the government insurance - as long as there are still private dentists. It shouldn't be that hard to at least provide a safety net. Gingivitis can lead to many other problems such as heart disease. When I realized this, I finally got down to business in maintaining my teeth. While I wouldn't expect the government to pay for restorative services, cleanings and even most basic extractions are not that expensive. A person can go without a lot of teeth, but it is no good to have rotting ones in your head.

I tried to extract a tooth once... The results were not good and bone fragments were left behind. So, I ended up going to the dentist anyway, to get everything out. Fortunately, he did not chew me out too bad!!!

Putin warns U.S. against attacking Iran

I'm not exactly sure how to take this, but I do have the feeling the U.S. needs to be rebuffed now and then. Even if the reports I've read are exagerated about Israel having 100 - plus nukes, they have "admitted" now to having nuclear technology. Learning more about Iran, I realize they are not all religious fanatics - I.E. they may have a tad bit of common sense underneath all that rhetoric. Anyhow, at this point, I'd feel terrible if EITHER country were bombed.

The NeoCon vision is fading whether you like it or not. People need to get over the vision of the U.S. being the world's ONLY superpower - Gee whiz, I just hope we can survive with all of our internal problems.

How did this happen????

Where was I when the Rockies were winning all those games??? Admittedly, I'm not much of a baseball fan, but now they are one game away from going to the World Series! The little I watched last night looked good, but I am not sure the Diamondbacks are that tough. Tougher opponets (Cleveland or Boston) await down the road.

It is genuinely refreshing to have other sports teams in town as an alternative to the Broncos. I can't claim any emotional attachment to any of those big-name teams, yet it is exciting and good for LoDo's economy. I just hope the police are ready for rowdy fans should victory somehow happen!

Wow... this beats Larry Craig's statement....

"It's all false; it was a trap. I was a victim of my own attempts to contribute to cleaning up the Church with my psychoanalyst work," La Repubblica quoted Stenico as saying.

This was a statement by a Vatican official suspended after being caught on hidden camera making advances to a young man...

Larry Craig ain't got nothing on you, pal! I could, of course, CARE LESS whether either man is indeed gay. Stop this madness, already! Beware of Catholic psychoanalysts!!!!

Huckabee jokingly suggests suicide for rivals...

He speaks about how he comes from the "base" and how the other candidates have to decide which side to take, while he doesn't. Hmmm... Many talk about how Hillary will galvanize the other side, but what about this guy? The former (conservative) Baptist minister would, if the Republican nominee, certainly get out a lot of votes - for Hillary! Just judging by the angry comments on various online forums, people are STILL mad at the religious right! Guilliani and Romney are conservative enough, but show a wee bit of moderation. I believe most Republicans have enough sense to vote for the most electable candidate, considering the partys current malaise.

But anyway, supposing I was wrong and he gets the nod - I WILL vote for Hillary then!

O'Reilley a racist?

Nope! As much as I would have liked to see him be, he is not! Arrogent, yes! But his comments were taken way out of context about blacks in a Harlem restaurant. This is what happens when you grab sound bytes off a conversation.

Truth be told, we all talk about other races with stereotypes. Unfortunately, that ghetto talkin' image gets too much attention. Fortunately, the blacks in my life outclass many of the whites. I steer clear of the other people!

McCain gets some flak from religious groups...

Well, let me state it again that I could care less what religion a candidate is! Let me state that the ONLY qualification I have is the Kennedy-esque statement that their faith should not interfere with their upholding the law of the land. Most Christian, Jewish and even Islamic people could probably qualify if they are tolerant of other people and religions. Most are, a few are not!

I am NOT religious. So, you must be tolerant of me, too!

This brings to mind that group of rediculous English Muslims holding their signs talking about how Islam will take over the world and everyone will have to convert or die! How rediculous! And I have to say that there are some "fringe" groups claiming to be Christian, which are just as bad.

Faith should be a personal thing. If some values, such as not killing people, are included in our laws and are also in a religion, well fine! It is a wonderful tribute to the Christian founders that they devised a nation where all religions are welcome. Of course, considering that England had a State religion, this makes sense.
