Top Democrat: Bring back draft.....

When pigs fly, they will! I don't think the idea of compulsory military service is a bad one, it's just that this idea would meet huge resistance. How about this idea: stop reckless engagement into foreign conflicts... NO MORE INVASIONS!!!

Also, this idea that the economically challenged or the undereducated are the only ones that join is nonsense. After 9/11, a lot of people joined out of simple patriotism. And John Kerry's botched joke was way off target... there are a lot of highly educated and skilled people in the service. If they happen to be "stuck in Iraq", it was because they chose to join. That said, there are a lot of reservists and national guard troops that certainly didn't plan on such long deployment for sure!

Now that Bush's wings have been effectively clipped, congress should work on passable legislation. Charlie Rangel's draft is probably a non-starter.
