Some relief....

I find some relief in the Pastor of New Life Church confessing to some of the accusations against him. I don't like ANYBODY to be falsely accused! Still, I think it was a cheap stunt for Mr. Jones to out this information. Do I dislike all those Conservative Evangelicals in Colorado Springs??? You bet! But it is as simple as this: we are all sinners and no human is perfect. I just say, Trust In the Lord!!! Yes, you can like your pastor and put some trust in them... Just realize that they are human, like you. With my sordid life, I am certainly in NO position to judge!

Now, back to the election. Of course, me and all my friends have all voted and this is a mute point for the election, as far as our efforts are concerned. The "escort" might end up in a monogamous relationship someday and benefit from Ref. I, but right now it just shows the side of Gays who have multiple sex partners. And that is not what Ref. I was meant for!

It was obvious from the 9 News comparisons of various interviews with Pastor (make that Ex Pastor) Haggert, that he got caught up in several lies. The more the guy confesses and stops lying, the more his conscience will ease. Maybe he'll leave that Church and join a more liberal one like the United Church of Christ? He might stay in his marriage and he might not. If not, he might decide he is gay and settle down with a partner. Then, he would fight FOR gay rights. O.k., I'm just fantasizing here, and he'll probably just get counseling and ask his wife for forgiveness and be forgiven. I know, if he listens to him, the Lord will forgive him, whichever path he leads!

I completely agree -- The more the guy confesses and stops lying, the more his conscience will ease.

Once you start lying about one sin, you have to keep lying to cover-up them all and it spirals out of control from there. It truly is tragic when the trusted leaders of our churches are caught up in so much scandal and immorality.

How can a pastor lead a mega church of 15,000 people when he can't even get his own life in order? Thankfully he resigned and hopefully he won't be allowed in ministry again. Doubtful though!

Like you said -- he'll probably just get counseling and ask his wife for forgiveness and be forgiven. I know the Lord will forgive him, whichever path he leads!

Don't be decieved - The Lord will NOT forgive him unless he REPENTS, and neither should his wife!

First of all, welcome and your thoughts are welcome (this isn't a much read blog). No, I don't believe that if he goes against God's wishes that he would be forgiven.

But I don't believe you, me or anybody can tell what those wishes are for another person. I don't pretend to know what path God has in mind for Rev. Haggert. But if he listens to his heart, his inner soul, THAT is where the guidance would come from. Those are my spiritual leanings and you are welcome to disagree. In the end, only God knows!

Thanks for welcoming me to your blog.

You're right - In the end, only God knows the conditions of a man's heart. I don't pretend to know what path God has in mind for Rev. Haggert either, but hopefully this situation with the pastor will bring him humility and shame which will drive him towards repentance so he doesn't continue to smear Christ's Name through the mud.

Furthermore - I sincerely hope this situation will be a good wake-up call to Christians to hold their pastors accountable and not to be so blindly lead like sheep to the slaughter house.

Not likely though!

IMO - the majority of so-called "Christians" are a bunch of numb-nuts who know nothing of God or the Bible. This is why we see an epidemic of church leaders caught up in sexual scandals and compromising the TRUTH in God's Word - all for personal gratification and the Almight DOLLAR! $$$

Curiously, my friend Ariyan, who still considers himself Muslim, says the same thing about powerful Ayatollahs...
